Aegisub 最初由 Rodrigo Braz Monteiro 所编写，Niels Martin Hansen 在此过程中也做出了重要贡献。开发工作在 2008 年由 Monteiro 主导，2010 年由 Hansen 接替，2011 年以后则由 Thomas Goyne 负责。
